6 Reasons We’re Not Sweet and Thoughtful in the Modern Dating World
Maybe this is why we can’t get off the dating merry-go-round
For those of us who are dating after our 30s, I’ve noticed that many of us don’t bother with acts of sweetness.
When I say “acts of sweetness” I mean the romantic crap we see younger people doing when they like each other.
Here’s an example. When a friend of mine was younger, the girl he was dating told him that she was bummed because it wasn’t going to snow. It wouldn’t be a white Christmas.
He got some white confetti and put it on the blades of the ceiling fan in a room. When she walked into the room, he turned on the fan, and the confetti blew around like snow.
She flung her arms around his neck, declaring how incredibly sweet he was.
In modern dating, I rarely see ultra-sweet gestures anymore. At most, I see some clichéd flowers or chocolates.
Yet I also see many people in the dating world complaining about being stuck on the dating merry-go-round.
We go on dates, find someone we like, spend a bit of time together, the relationship doesn’t ‘take’ for whatever reason, then it’s back to going on dates.
