Ah—bring on some more financial nerdiness. It’s an area I’d like to become more informed about. Makes sense for the taxes to be assessed around the completion date, not the filing date, so that leaves just the Christmas-guilt complex as a main reason for filing in January. (Tho I was hoping the 2017 reforms would get rid of most of the marriage tax penalty, at least if we’re not high enough earners or on social security or having high medical expenses.)

Now I wonder if the ‘# of books’ finding has more to do with what we read, not just how much we read. If we read a ton of literary classics, that doesn’t necessarily reflect attempts to learn about child-rearing or divorce-prevention. Maybe the modern version of that sort of study would be # of Medium articles read corresponding with more successful children and marriages:) I have found that since joining Medium, I’m buying a tad fewer books. Now if we have a DVD library full of classics like Happy Gilmore, that probably has a high correspondence with # of dad jokes and puns
