All of these arguments were hard for me to get because I just don't relate to any of it since none of this happened to me. But the more I thought about how much a woman's body gets torn up, that's where I kind of got some idea of how hard it is to price out that sort of thing. I have no idea how much $ it would take me to be willing to put my body through that. Well, truth is, I just wouldn't. Not for any price. I'd rather get paid for running down a dark street with people shooting at me than go through that sort of bodily havoc.

I totally see what you mean that tallying up the overall price for past and future expenses means it would be inaccurate because you couldn't accurately predict future costs. Just as an exercise, looking at the price of just past costs: $75k for 1 kid (go TJ Max instead of brand name $100k mom), so a guy with 2 kids owes $150k, plus, add $25k for hazardous duty for 2 kids so that's $175k,and $12.5k for breastfeeding each kid ($25k for kids), waive the urine release fee, then, say, $50k a year for 5 years of stay-at-home services ($250k), so a guy would then owe $500k at time of divorce even without price of child support or spousal support or other future expenses. To pay that off in 10 years, the monthly payment would be about $4k+. It could almost be said that sure we use all the labels 'child support' or 'spousal support' or 'alimony' or 'house equity', but those are just words; the idea is that the sum of whatever is paid cover the $500k.

I so agree with you that those who trump up frivolous spousal support claims are making the whole system seem illegitimate. I'd respect them more if they said, "I'd like to receive $150k for my womb rental fee for 2 kids".
