“Get professional help.” That seems to be the big advice these days in the dating and relationship genre.

Struggling with the mind games and pain brought about by dating? Go see a therapist.

Can’t make relationships last? Go see a therapist.

Got attachment issues? Go see a therapist.

The guy ghosted you? Go see a therapist.

Lately, my feeds are full of headlines about Tom Brady’s endorsement of therapy. He says he’s been in therapy for the last 25 years. I mean, if Tom does it, shouldn’t we all?

Almost every article I read about relationship problems has “Go see a therapist” written in it somewhere as the solution.

Have you ever noticed that I have never once, in any of my posts about relationship problems, written “Go see a therapist” as a solution?

Don’t get me wrong. I wholeheartedly believe that seeing a therapist can have great value.

But.

Should we run to a mental health professional every time we have problems in our lives?
