Hello, Emerson--I've lived in those sort of cities before, where a date can involve 2 hours of driving even when we're both in the same city. So frustrating for everyone. Even now, I'm resistant to meeting someone who lives much more than 20 minutes away. But maybe that's a way to sort of...narrow down options, and, when we find someone who is actually close, we don't discard them too quickly or frivolously. Instead of thinking, "There are 2 million people in the age bracket in this city who are options" we think "There are only about 50 people in the 20-minute vicinity, so I need to give them a legitimate chance, not discarding them for one minor dating 'infraction'". It's almost like the farther away someone lives, the more perfect and perfectly behaved they need to be. Perhaps we'll be a bit more lenient and understanding and tolerant for people who live closer:) --Lee
