Hello, TStock--
Thank you for reading!
I imagine being at a red light and looking over at the car next to me and seeing a grown man surrounded by 3 young women, all 4 singing their ever-loving hearts out, only it's hot so the windows are closed to keep the air conditioning in, so I can't hear yáll singing but your eyes are closed and your mouth is moving quite widely and vigorously so I know you're tearing it up tho I can't hear yáll:)
I so appreciate just your openness to the possibility that there might be some good music in a genre or decade instead of just assuming it's all bad. If you have to pick through a lot of crap to get to 24 good songs, then good on you for not giving up after listening to a handful and declaring 'nothing good to be found here'.
I do hope...that I didn't broad-stroke this writing too much to make you think that I'd dread a road trip with 'any' 50 year old...you're a great reminder to me that there are so many variations. Indeed I did date a 50-something who exposed me one of my now-favorite bands. Strangely the band is called "Cigarettes after sex" (what a name!). It so impressed me that he took me to a CAS concert and was nonplussed about being one of the few people over 30yo in the audience.
Besides, a song about the pain of love is...relatable no matter what genre or decade...
By the way...I so hope you're doing something...wonderful for yourself next week for your 50th. I never used to celebrate my own birthdays--just worked through them and ignored them--but now I'm a big believer in being the person who treats me as someone worthy of being celebrated. Please do celebrate your existence!
Again...thank you for reading...and sharing your thoughts...
