A typical complaint I hear from wives — and ex-wives — is that men won’t do their share of the housework.

In the beginning, she thinks she picked a good man to marry.

Over time, the kind, considerate man did less and less of the household chores until she was stuck doing most or all of them.

Over time, she became frustrated, fed up, and raging.

Here, I’m going to use psychological research about motivation to help you understand why this happens.

We’ll look at 3 reasons men stop doing their fair share of the housework. Along the way, you’ll learn ways to motivate men to help out around the house.

Many men do their fair share — and then some — of domestic duties. If you’re that lovely specimen, you’re welcome to keep reading just to feel better about yourself and heckle the men who don’t.

Also, plenty of women are slackers about housework. These same suggestions can be used to motivate women — or children — to do household chores.
