How to Find Out if He’s Married
Hint: Checking his ring finger may not be enough
Imagine you start dating a person, and you come to care about the person. Then one day, you find out that, all along, the person already had a significant other (SO) but never told you. You, unwittingly, became a side piece.
I can’t even imagine how painful that would be.
Here, I describe how I almost became a side piece. Then I give you two questions to ask people to help you see if they are concealing significant others.
How I Almost Became a Side Piece
I went to a lodge to celebrate a co-worker’s retirement. I was new, so I didn’t know the people from the other agencies. One of the guys sat down beside me, and it was insta-connection.
We riffed off each other, silly in the way I like (“Who had the idea that bunching 40 deer antlers together would make a good chandelier, and what were they high on when they came up with that idea?!”) but also plowing into the kind of stuff I live to think about (“What does everyone in this room have in common? How can you tell who is good at their job?”).
We didn’t come up for air for hours til one of us had to go to the bathroom (me, because, beer).
