I'm quite into social learning these days...the way we learn beliefs and values and concepts, not just how to do something. Sounds like what your dad really taught you was, "You can probably figure anything out if you just mess around with it long enough". What a beautiful thing for a parent to teach.

If you can fix a furnace, does that make you believe you can fix a broken relationship as well?:)
