Oh--1099 is a tax form which, in this case, Medium has to provide as evidence of 'royalties' paid to writers, if a writer makes more than $50 in the year. (Dangit when you only make $51!) We don't get to keep our Medium earnings under the table--gotta report them so we can get taxed on them;)
