She was so perceptive, to consider that what she said could possibly be taken several ways, and to check with you to see how you took it. That's pretty cool!

I've done the same thing--lived 3 hours away from the person I loved, only seeing him on weekends, and I was the one who did all the driving back and forth. I still to this day don't believe the time was wasted--even the short bursts of time were well worth all that driving and hassle. I only wish I had persevered and not given up after a year of it.
