The whole thing falls apart--I think you nailed it right there, Scott. Seems like most of this personality stuff just becomes something to talk about on dates instead of the weather and zodiac signs. Maybe if someone puts too much stock in personality types, THAT in itself is a sign:) The way I was taught to think of introversion personality trait is that it's a matter of what stimulates you vs what drains you. So what would you prefer to do when you're in a grumpy, low mood--go hang out with friends/other people to shake off the low mood, or go get some quiet time by yourself (or maybe 1 other person present with not much interaction? Former is extroversion, latter extroversion. Which one do you tend to be? Are you gonna be paddling around in that new tiny boat of yours to get some much-needed away time from fellow humans? Or leading groups into the cypress swamps? Me, I can put on a dog and pony show being larger than life when teaching and then laugh it up with buddies at the pub after a jog, but then these social interactions drain me so severely that I need to hunker down at home or on trails by myself to restore my social energy. No one ever guesses that I'm an introvert because I'm not shy, but I am depleted by every conversation. They dont see that I sometimes take stairs just to avoid having to chitchat with people on elevators and I spend a ton of time alone or with just one person quietly present;) For sure if you go by the definition of introvert being a shy, reticent person, I wouldn't be an introvert.
