Why Do Writers Put Their Names in the Subtitles of Their Posts?

There’s a trend I’ve started noticing amongst Medium.com writers, so I wanted to check to see what your thoughts were about it. Maybe there’s a legitimate reason for it.

The trend: Some writers put their names in the ‘subtitles’ of their articles. It looks something like this:

“Lee Bidoski shares her tips for how to NOT look like a douche”.

It’s like watching professional wrestling on TV. The announcer belts out, “Ladies and gentlemen, now entering the arena is…CM Punk!” The crowd jumps to their feet and busts out in spastic applause just from hearing the name.

(Does anyone else find it kind of funny that the old-school World-wide Wrestling Federation and the World Wildlife Fund for animals used the same acronym? You’d have to be careful to not to write a check to help save the whales only to have it cashed by one of the Four Horsemen. Man, I always liked how above the neck Arn Anderson looked like a conservative businessman, but then he had the best pecs.)

That would be kind of cool if writers got the same reception as a professional wrestler. Readers sitting at their…
