You describe the problem so clearly, the problem of having to leave a 'flow state' to tend to others' needs. This is the way I am when in the middle of statistics or something else I'm absorbed by. It's so hard for me to change gears, yanking my attention from one to the other. I almost resent that I'm going to have spend time 'finding' where I left off when someone 'steals' my attention.
