You get it! I'm still not sure what he meant when he said "We'd work through it". I wonder what workarounds other couples use when one has a dog and the other is allergic to dogs. As best I can guess, when he said "We'd work through it" he meant "You'll eventually choose me over the dog and get rid of the dog". Those who aren't 'into' dogs don't even realize that that is NOT an option. I guess, to them, it's the equivalent of "I don't eat chicken so you'll just stop preparing meals with chicken, no big deal". If I go online dating again (fingers crossed that's never the case!), I do think I'll include a huge banner "Those with dog allergies need not apply":)
